Here I am, again, trying to spread the name of one of the best writer of these last years: Andersen Prunty.
After the wonderful "Fuckness" (here for my previous review), this is the time for "Satanic summer".
Long story short: a nice kind-of-horror tale, with a lot of funny and gross (really gross) moments.
if you're into metal, you have to read it: one of the hero (maybe is the anti-hero) is a metal head, and Prunty cites several times the norwegian black metal scene.
I think this book resembles pretty much the vision of Prunty about religion.
I won't spoil anything, so here's the morale of the story: it doesn't matter which side you are. Organized religions are there just to control yourself, they suck and they are bad.
For all you miserable brainless creatures out there, barely able to read, here is the book review of "Fuckness".
"I didn't see how anyone could brutalize someone whose shoes had fallen off."
The book could be explained with this sentence.
The story is simple. It's a journey in the life of Wallace Black, a poor teen age boy tired to swallow all the shit that every day others (starting from his parents) throw at him.
And when enough is enough, he gets mad, and bad things happen.
To everyone.
It's been awhile since last time I got emotionally attached to some character, but this time was the case.
I felt so close to Wallace... I was often wondering if Prunty was reading my mind and describing my feels.
"The laughter had died down and I knew there was a foreboding wave of darkness waiting for me. I wondered why, when I had feelings of intense joy or happiness, I could always sense the black wave, cresting above and threatening to crash down on me at any time but, when I was actually having one of my sad spells, it felt like it was never going to end - like I would never get the happiness back."
From the book "Fuckness".
I love this author.
Turn off your TV/computer/cellphone/whatever. Read more, use your imagination, fuel your brain with thoughts.
...and this is the perfect soundtrack for the post: explore, be curious damn it!!
